जो step software development life cycle में flow होते वे सारे होते है . waterfall model के जो सारे step है वे सभी software development life cycle में आते है .
waterfall model के सभी phase एक complete होने के बाद ही दूसरा phase शुरू होता है . इसलिए इसे लिनिअर squamation model कहते है.

Requirement analysis in hindi
इस phase में हम सबसे पहले costumer (user ) से requirement को identify किया जाता है . और फिर check किया जाता है की वो feasible है की नही उसकी validity check करते है की उसको हम implement कर सकते है की नही .उसके लिये validity और feasibility check होती है .इस phase को complet करने के बाद आगला phase शुरू होता है .
Designing
इस phase में जो software हमको develop करना है उस software की requirement के अनुसार software को design किया जाता है .
development और implement
इस phase में design के अनुसार software की programing (coding )की की जाती है . तथा software को बनाया जाता है .
Testing
programing complete होने के बाद software की testing वाला phase स्टार्टर होता है . और ये देखा जाता की क्या software costumer (user ) की requirement के अनुसार वर्क क्र रहत है की नही .

deployment
deployment को आसान शब्दों में बात करे तो इसका मतलब user के यहाँ जाकर software को install करना होता है . और user को use use करने करने तथा use feature के बारे में बताया जाता है .
Maintenance
maintenance का मतलब अगर software में कोई change आये तो use सुधारना होता है .
- waterfall model को practically product development में use नही किया जा सकता है .क्योंकि इसमें requirement analysis हो गयी उसके बाद अब हम design phase में चले गये उसके बाद पता चला की requirement analysis में कोई error रह गयी . अब हम design phase जसे जा कर requirement analysis phase में आकर उन error को सही नही कर सकते है . अगर कोई error आ जाती है तो हमको फिर से पूरा process start करना होता है .इस लिये इस model का use ओनली ideal model के रूप में किया जाता है . software development के लिये नही करते है .
- इस draw back को remove करने के लिये एक iterative waterfall model बनाया गया जिसमे ये solution दिया जाता है . की अगर कोई error आती है तो use वापस से सही किया जा सकता हैं .
Advantage of waterfall model
- waterfall model use करना आसान व् समझना सरल होता हैं .
- इस model में एक phase complete होने के बाद ही दूसरा phase start होता हैं .
- सभी requirement correct होनी चाहिए अगर कोई error आ गयी तो वाकी सभी phase में error आ जाएगी . इसलिए clearly आउटलाइन project होंगे . जिनकी requirement clear होंगी उनके लिये ये हेल्प फुल हो सकता हैं
Disadvantage of waterfall model
- not use for big project.
- इसमें change नहीं कर सकते according to requirement इसलिए little flexible होता हैं एक बार जो हो गया हैं बो उसी पर work करना start होगा आप उसमे change नही कर सकते हैं .
- एक बार phase complete हो गया तो बापस नहीं जा सकते हैं .
- जब तक सारी life cycle complete नहीं हो जाती हैं . तब तक phase form requirement and maintance नहीं हो जाते हैं . तब तक हमारा working model तैयार नहीं होगा .
- Requirement :- जिन requirement को हम को हम अच्छे से समझ सकते हैं ये model उन पर apply होता हैं.
- Risk:- waterfall model में high risk होता हैं .
- user communication नहीं होता हैं .
- इस model में change करना काफी मुस्किल होता है . अगर change करना भी हैं तो सारे phase फिर से start करना होता हैं
- Availability of model:- इसमें जब software life cycle के सारे phase complete हो जाते हैं . तव working model मिलता हैं .click
